- When will property owners expect to hear from TxDOT regarding right of way (ROW) acquisition?
-
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has developed a preliminary map plan for the US 290 and Hempstead Highway corridor as part of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process. This process is governed by federal law to determine the recommended approach for actual improvements and required right-of-way (ROW) acquisition.
Based on comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) published in June 2007 and presented in Public Hearings in July 2007, a Final EIS will be prepared in Fall 2007, followed by a final Record of Decision (ROD) concerning any proposed improvements from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), which is anticipated in Spring 2008. The ROW acquisition process will begin after the ROD is delivered in Spring 2008. This will enable us to prepare for the first construction projects in 2011.
