Currently, there is construction beyond Mueschke that completes the freeway section with three main lanes each direction between Barker-Cypress and Mason Road. As presented at public meetings in October 2005, the portion of US 290 between Barker-Cypress and Mason has an ultimate proposed widening to add an additional main lane in each direction. The existing three-lane sections are generally proposed to have four lanes each direction; the existing two-lane sections beyond Bauer are proposed to have three main lanes.
