Much of the frontage road between W. 43rd and Bingle Road is now complete.At right you can see the contractor building the noise barrier along outbound US 290 near Brickhouse Gully. The US 290 noise barriers have a tree-like design on the outside, which represents the vertical scheme of the TxDOT Houston District’s Green Ribbon Project.

Project I December 2014 Pictures 

These images show how the contractor is clearing space along US 290 westbound between Bingle Road and Pinemont Drive. In the next few months they will place temporary asphalt pavement in this area, then shift traffic to the temporary asphalt pavement while the new outbound frontage road is built, and then move motorists onto the new outbound frontage road. Similar work is also occurring in this project between W. 43rd Street and Bingle.

The picture on the left shows the outbound US 290 mainlanes at Antoine Drive after the contractor removed the bridge structure above the columns. On the right is an image taken along the outbound US 290 frontage road between W. 43rd Street and Bingle Road. Crews are laying asphalt in space created by the removal of a portion of the mainlane retaining wall. Motorists will be relocated to that asphalt while the contractor builds the new frontage road. Once the new frontage road is done, motorists will be moved onto it.

Project I October 2014 Pictures 

The picture at left shows half of the Pinemont Drive Bridge over US 290 which opened in October 2014. There is one westbound lane, one eastbound lane and bike lanes in both directions. The other half of the bridge is anticipated to open in early 2015. On the right, crews work to clear right of way along the US 290 eastbound frontage road near W. 43rd Street. They will soon install storm sewers in that area.

The contractor has begun work on the outbound US 290 frontage road; the left picture was taken at Bingle Road. On the right, crews continue their construction of the Pinemont Drive Bridge. Half of it is anticipated to open in fall 2014, with one lane eastbound and westbound as well as a bike lane on both sides.
