In these pictures, the contractor works to complete the inbound Collector-Distributor (C-D) roadway at Beltway 8. The C-Ds will improve traffic flow through the interchange by consolidating entering and exiting movements.

The picture at left shows an asphalt area in which crews are constructing the new northbound I-610 mainlanes. At right, the contractor builds columns for those lanes as they turn eastbound. Once the northbound/eastbound I-610 mainlanes are completed, motorists will be moved onto them. In the vacated space, the contractor will build the new direct connector coming from I-10 to US 290.

In the picture on the right, you can see how those mainlanes are being constructed to the right of the new direct connector from I-10, which is the large structure on the left side of the picture.

This picture shows how almost all of this project’s work is complete, construction on this project began in June 2011. Project K built what you see on the right side of the image. That includes the continuous southbound I-610 frontage road, the direct connector to I-10 and the southbound I-610 mainlanes.
