Project F Dec

On the left, the contractor drills a shaft for a new inbound US 290 mainlane column at West Road. In the other two pictures, crews on the other side of West pour concrete for an inbound mainlane column cap. A truck shoots the concrete into a bucket, which is raised up. Workers then open the bottom of the bucket, and the concrete pours into a form to harden around the steel rebar.

Project G Construction Pictures - December 2014

Project G Dec

In December 2014 the new Beltway 8 frontage roads opened, which include bridges over Hempstead Road and the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks. Motorists no longer have to travel to Senate Avenue and the US 290 frontage road to continue on the Beltway 8 frontage road. Having a connected Beltway 8 frontage road at US 290 allows for a continuous flow of traffic, eliminates extra turn movements and relieves congestion at the US 290/Senate intersection.

Similar work is also occurring in this project between W. 43rd Street and Bingle.
