This picture shows workers building the new eastbound US 290 mainlane retaining wall just before Cypress Rose Hill. The tree-like design on the panels reflects the TxDOT Houston District’s Green Ribbon Program, which aims to make roadways in the area more aesthetically pleasing.
Project E Construction Pictures - November 2014
These images show crews finishing up the eastbound US 290 frontage road just before Huffmeister Road. By the end of 2014, most of the inbound frontage road in Project E, from Telge Road to Eldridge Parkway, was anticipated to be complete.
Project F Construction Pictures - November 2014
These pictures show the contractor preparing to pour concrete for the new eastbound US 290 mainlane columns between Eldridge Parkway and West Road. The concrete is poured inside the red forms and allowed to harden around steel rebar.
Project G Construction Pictures - November 2014
On the left crews finish up the new southbound Beltway 8 frontage road, and on the right they are shown completing work on the new northbound Beltway 8 frontage road. When finished, these roadways will allow motorists in both directions the opportunity to go over Hempstead Road and the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks. Both frontage roads are anticipated to be completed by the end of 2014.
Project H Construction Pictures - November 2014
This picture shows the contractor building the new retaining wall for the outbound US 290 mainlanes at Fairbanks North Houston. As of this month crews were building new retaining walls at Hollister Street and W. Tidwell as well.
Project I Construction Pictures - November 2014
The picture on the left shows the outbound US 290 mainlanes at Antoine Drive after the contractor removed the bridge structure above the columns. On the right is an image taken along the outbound US 290 frontage road between W. 43rd Street and Bingle Road. Crews are laying asphalt in space created by the removal of a portion of the mainlane retaining wall. Motorists will be relocated to that asphalt while the contractor builds the new frontage road. Once the new frontage road is done, motorists will be moved onto it.
Project J-1 Construction Pictures - November 2014
At left, crews work on building columns near Dacoma Street for the new direct connector taking I-10 motorists to outbound US 290. A portion of that ramp near Mangum Road appears on the right, with beams hung on some of the columns. This ramp is anticipated to be completed in late 2016.
Project K Construction Pictures - November 2014
The picture at left shows the I-610 North Loop, which as of this month had almost all the mainlane concrete poured for the bridge structure over West and East T.C. Jester. The I-610 mainlanes from West T.C. Jester to Ella Boulevard are anticipated to be complete by the end of 2014. On the right, crews work to remove the old I-610 westbound/southbound mainlanes. The new I-610 westbound/southbound mainlanes opened in October 2014.
