Crews compact dirt on the US 290 outbound mainlanes approaching Telge. Once that work is done, the contractor will install concrete pavement on top to complete the mainlanes.

Close to US 290, crews place deck panels on top of the new direct connector from SH 6 northbound to US 290 inbound.  This direct connector will allow SH 6 northbound motorists to avoid the congested traffic signal at US 290.

Crews work on the US 290 outbound Collector-Distributor. (left) After they compact the dirt, the contractor will install concrete pavement on top. (right) From these lanes, motorists will be able to exit to Senate Avenue and FM 529, and enter the US 290 outbound mainlanes just before FM 529.

This month the contractor opened the new US 290 outbound frontage road pavement between Fairbanks North Houston and Gessner. The contractor is also working on the outbound mainlanes in this area .

The contractor works on columns just north of Hempstead Road for the new direct connector from I-10 to US 290, and the new continuous I-610 northbound frontage road over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks. (left) Crews build a temporary ramp from I-610 northbound to the direct connector from I-10.(right) This will provide motorists a new way to access US 290 westbound , while creating space for the contractor to work on the US 290 westbound mainlanes near I-610.

In March 2016, motorists were shifted onto new US 290 eastbound mainlane bridge pavement over W. 34th Street. (left) Crews have begun demolishing the existing eastbound mainlane structure, and a new bridge will be built in its place. (right)
