 The contractor performs inlet work on the US 290 westbound mainlane bridge over Mason  Road. Inlets allow water to drain off the mainlanes during rain events.

A crew uses a milling machine to remove old base material in the middle of the US 290 mainlanes near Barker Cypress. The contractor will recycle this material and use it in another area. Most of the westbound and eastbound mainlane work in this project is complete.

Wooden pallets provide an area for large equipment to move and perform work on relocating utilities. Crews here connected portions of a natural gas pipeline along US 290 westbound near FM 1960.

An excavator digs in an area where new storm sewer will be installed along the US 290 westbound frontage road near Eldridge Parkway. Westbound mainlane work in this project is anticipated to begin in 2017.

The contractor builds a detention pond along the US 290 westbound frontage road at West Little York. (top) Crews work on Next Generation Concrete Surface, a quiet pavement technique which reduces tire/pavement noise. (bottom) Not only does this work reduce tire noise on the road, it removes the lane striping from former interim configurations.
