Crews work on column placement for a noise barrier which is being constructed between the Cypress Mill Estates subdivision and US 290 near Cypress Rose Hill. Such barriers are being built in certain areas of US 290 to reduce the level of roadway noise near neighborhoods.

Construction in Project G is now substantially complete. Both the US 290 eastbound mainlanes (left) and westbound mainlanes (right) have had Next Generation Concrete Surface work performed on them. That process reduces tire/pavement noise.

(left) This month new westbound mainlane pavement opened from W. 34th to Hollister, a distance of about three miles; this includes the new exit to Bingle/Pinemont and the new entrance from Antoine. In the middle, motorists exit from I-610 northbound to US 290 westbound by using what will ultimately be the direct connector from I-10. On the left side of the photo, bridge beams have been placed on the future I-10 connector ramp to I-610 eastbound.
