The contractor is performing Next Generation Concrete Surface operations along the mainlanes between Mason and Mueschke. (left) In this process, the machine grinds the pavement, then places longitudinal grooves in it. (right) This helps reduce the noise created by tires rolling on the pavement, and this work will be done on all US 290 mainlanes.

This process involves using concrete with special additives, which allows the concrete to harden more quickly. (left) The contractor has constructed a portion of the new T-Ramp from the Northwest Station Park and Ride to the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane, this picture shows the concrete curing. Crews have nearly completed the new outbound mainlanes at I-610 (shown in pink in the top image) which are scheduled to open in June. I-610 northbound motorists will again exit from the left side of the roadway, and the exit will be two lanes. The picture at the bottom shows in pink what happens from there. At the top are the US 290 outbound mainlanes, and below them is an exit from the mainlanes to Dacoma/Mangum.
